how to lose 19 of 24

Quick explanation as to why the White Sox have lost 19 of 24 – this season, their bullpen has thrown 170.1 innings, and allowed 203 hits, 102 walks, and 18 homers, for an ERA of 6.18.

It gets worse, though.  Take out the two pitchers who haven’t sucked (Bobby Jenks and Boone Logan), and the numbers look like this:

124 IP
162 hits
87 walks
16 homers
7.11 ERA

As someone once said (probably), it’s never good to have an ERA you could name a convenience store after.
